Ulva Hostel

Ulva Hostel is located on the remote Isle of Ulva. The hostel can accommodate up to 14 people in three double rooms and two four-bed bunk rooms.

Isle of Ulva

Ulva is a remote island off the west coast of Mull. It has no roads and no cars and is accessed by a small foot passenger ferry that runs on request Monday-Friday 9am-5.30pm from April-October. (For crossings outside of this period, please contact us).

Ulva Ferry

Ulva Ferry is the gateway not only to Ulva, but also for Gometra, and for boat trips to the other islands off the west coast of Mull – such as the Treshnish Isles and Staffa.

“Ulva was no nest in which the soft or unthrifty could hope to survive…Its weather was dramatically uncertain and inclement…but for all that, it knew days of azure beauty, sombre purple calms when the sea was like a sheet of olive glass, and nights when the summit of Ben More stood in sharp and frostily-white relief against a soft-starred east under the moon.”

— M H Ellis ‘Lachlan MacQuarie His Life, Adventures and Times’ 1947
