Ulva Hostel Snug in the Deep Mid Winter

When it’s cold outside, at least Ulva Hostel is still warm – even in its winter hiatus, whilst we work on repairs and redecorating in anticipation of opening on 30th March, which is an early opening for us this year.

The weather over the Christmas and New Year was lovely and cold which helped dry out the land after all the storms during the Autumn and made getting to and from Gometra to the hostel a lot easier, as all the puddles on the eight mile track, dried up.

Crossing the ‘Bru’ – the causeway between Gometra and Ulva on a very winter’s day.
On Gometra above Jane Ann’s Bothy at Bailachlaildh, looking out towards Little Colonsay and an approaching snow shower.
Am Bru – the sounds between Ulva and Gometra – on a very unusual windless day.
